LARGE PERGOLA STRUCTURE EXTENDS MONEY-PRODUCING SPACE
We just delivered this large pergola structure with retractable awnings on both sides and a fixed section in the middle. The awnings are motorized and can be extended or retracted to offer maximal or minimal weather exposure to patrons. The center part is permanently covered by fixed ceiling plates and offer year-round sun and rain protection. We mounted a lighting system to make sure the restaurant’s new patio operates day and night all year round. This structure provides both restaurants with additional revenues as the serving space has been expanded and is in fact, a year-round sitting patio. This unique structure was commissioned by the Lime Fresh restaurant and the burger restaurant on the other side. It is solidly anchored in the walls of both buildings. It can be viewed on Narcoossee Rd, in Orlando, FL where our company has built a large number of residential and commercial projects. We just finished installing this retractable shading structure with a blue awning over a wet bar at a yacht club in St Petersburg, FL. As can be seen in the second photo, the retractable arms feature an LED lighting system, effectively increasing the use of the wet bar during the evening (and helping the bartender see what is poured in the shaker at night!).
The structure is solidly anchored in the ground to resist the strong winds that can blow along the waterway. The awning has a a high wind resistance, but we advise our clients to retract the awning systematically when the space is left unattended or when the winds are too high. ADDING A FIXED ROOF STRUCTURE TO PROTECT A PATIO
This home is located on Vina Del Mar Island, at the southern tip of St Petersburg, FL. As you can see in the first photo, the house has a nice courtyard with a pool, and the patio space back of the pool deck and nearest the wall has been transformed into a dining area by the owners. The problem was the exposure to the sun and to the wind. The choice of a fixed roof structure was the best option to cover the dining area and protect it from the sun, but the structure had to be anchored very strongly to the existing masonry and carpentry to make it hurricane-proof. You can see in the second photo how we anchored it to the existing carpentry. On its under side, it is also anchored to the wall masonry, and to the deck itself with a column dug and cemented into the ground. This fixed roof structure enables the owners to entertain guests outside all year round. It is much stronger than retractable awnings.
