We built this louvered pergola on the side of our clients’ home in Clearwater, FL. They wanted to have more livable outdoor space to entertain their guests. The louvered pergola gives them the flexibility to enjoy their yard even when the sun is harsh, as the louvers can be completely closed, and reopened towards the end of the day. The louvers also protects them from a light rain as we often have during the monsoon season in FL. Louvers are easy to clean, and the structure ensure rainwater is evacuated to the existing gutters. The pergola structural beams are deeply anchored in the concrete and under the roof line, to resist very strong winds as per code. The owners have a great view on the golf course, but can’t always enjoy it during the say because of the direct sun exposure. The pergola now houses a wet bar, which expands the entertainment possibilities of their home almost all year round. Located on the wing of the house, it also compliments what would otherwise be just a wall. The black metal structure follows the line of the gutters, blending the pergola seamlessly into the architectural design of the home.
